About Us

Family Run for Over 26 Years in Pakenham

We're a family run business and have owned the restaurant for 26 years. From the beginning, our goal has been simple: serve honest, homestyle comfort food at fair prices in a place that feels like home.

The Centennial Restaurant is more than just a place to eat. It's a gathering spot for the Pakenham community and the surrounding Mississippi Mills area. We believe in supporting our neighbours, which is why we host events throughout the year with proceeds going to local causes like the Arnprior Hospital.

A Pakenham Landmark

The Biggest Cone in the Country Since 1967

"Heaps of ice cream in the biggest cone in the country (maybe in the whole world) goes for 50 cents at the Centennial Restaurant in Pakenham, Ont., on Highway 29 and it's big. People come from all over the Ottawa Valley, and beyond, to try the cone they've heard about."

Opened in 1967 and featured in the National Post, The Centennial became famous for its legendary oversized ice cream cones — softball-sized scoops that drew crowds from across the Ottawa Valley. Three freezers packed with flavours from chocolate-walnut to heavenly hash kept the lineup going all summer long.

"I worked at Centennial Restaurant in Pakenham in the summer when Elsa Stewart owned it … scooped ice cream until my fingers froze. Cones were huge, lineups were long, we scooped for hours on a hot summer day."
